Game Night!

Thursday, July 25, 6:00-8:00pm

Join us for Drink in Design on the evening of Thursday, July 25, as we play games alongside their creator, Deborah Thomas of Silly Monkey, and learn how games are changing the world.

Experiment with a social trading game designed just for this evening. Try to be the first to obtain all of the design cards to build your Museum of Design. Begin with a challenge and end with a swap, or, just maybe, you will decide to halt a trade. Learn facts about design as you play. The winner who builds the most museums wins. Prizes will be awarded!

Then, come to understand a category of games called “games for change” or “social impact games.” The “games for change” movement /community of practice—which emerged first in 2004—is dedicated to using games for social change. As you learn about these games that are changing the world, try out the newly created House of Change game in which you enter an alien world and move your avatar around to discover some of the most important change games that have been created so far. You can also try your hand at Week Eats, a game in which your goal is to eat nutritious food while living within your budget. It’s a game that raises awareness of global hunger and poverty.
